What is the Soul's Journey?

The soul or spiritual journey can be your actual journey through life. It begins the day that you wake up & say ‘This body of mine; these emotions & this mind must have a reason to exist other than the mundane.’

It’s the day that you ask ‘Isn’t there something more?’ Sometimes it’s even the day that you say ‘If there isn’t anything more; I don’t want to be here.’

Why do you think there are so many suicides? These are people who are not finding a reason for living. They have learnt the rules of the game - how to function in a society & live up to it’s rules & expectations. Then they hit a point. The question is asked ‘Where do I fit in" or if they feel they have failed their family, work environment, school, society it’s more like ‘I will never fit in.’

Often it’s by crisis that you will experience the more profound reason for living. It’s the day that you realize that the soul’s journey does not consist of ‘what’s out there’. Whatever there is for you to discover - it’s all within yourself. The eyes stop looking outward for gratification or approval & start looking within. They are the ‘eyes of the soul’ appearing.

Thomas Moore in Care of the Soul teaches that the more you treat your body as a temple for your soul the more you will feel inspired to look after it. The body houses the emotions, the mind, the spirit - all of which you can’t see but are a vital part of your existence.

I do a little exercise in the mornings where I breathe in the ‘prana’ or energy that is all around me - giant breathfulls. I imagine it going into every cell of my body; vitalizing it for it’s day’s functioning. Sometimes I sense a beautiful colour around me & I breathe that into every cell as well. This is just a tiny example of what it is to become consciously aware of just who we are.

Any energy is available to us to utilize but we have to tap into it. It doesn’t do it for us. We have free will. If we want to believe the world is a negative space where we don’t fit in; that’s exactly the sort of world we will create.

Worlds within worlds. We each live in our own little reality. Why do you think one person can be having a fantastic day & the person next to them the opposite? When you get in touch with the journey of your own soul, you will find that your thoughts of reality match up to a greater one. This is called the pathway. You may find it through Buddhism, a guru, Christianity, a culture such as the Native American, New Age, Wicca, Tao etc. Whatever way resonates with you, all roads ultimately lead to the same destination. The core essence of life. Belief. Faith.

Many people say they don’t believe in God or Spirit because they can’t see it. We can’t see the air around us either but we’d be in a bad way if it wasn’t there to fund our lives.

Once we start to realize that the only real journey we have is the one where all the action is within, we are coming to some fundamental understandings. We can stop looking outwards to create our life & start looking inwards.

We might find that we don’t have much going for us. We may feel that talent looked the other way when we came along. All this means is that we have not looked deep enough within - to find the sacred aspects of ourselves.

We may feel that there are so many people already doing what we want to do that ‘what’s the use?’ If a using particular skill is the best way for you to express yourself, then as long as you are fulfilling your destiny - don’t worry who or how many are also using the same skill. I used to think this before I started Tarot reading. ‘Why would I want to do tarot reading? There are thousands of readers already’ That quiet, little voice that communes with me sometimes responded ‘Yes, but they are not you.’ At first I thought this was a really egotistical thought. Now I realize it means that we all have unique gifts, our own way of presenting. All we are asked is to do it. The only failure in life comes from not attempting. There are no other failures.

Next time you walk on the beach or in the bush, shut your eyes for a few minutes. Ask yourself ‘Who am I? Please reveal to me my soul, my journey, my reality.’ Then that invisible force that keeps you alive can click into gear & start working with you instead of sitting on the sidelines waiting for you to ask.

You will find as time goes by that there is enough strength, wisdom & power within you to create anything you need in life. If you ask to be supported, you will be. It may not be in the way you would have chosen but if you can surrender your ego, your control & pride along the way - life will show you what it really has in store for you. Who knows it may be a far better portrait than the one you would have imagined prior to making life a conscious journey.
